New York
AI adoption for investment firms, in New York.
By The People Technologies is a New York AI consultancy that works with private equity, private credit, hedge fund, venture and allocator teams. We put AI into the hands of the people who do the work, on their own documents, and we measure the engagement in business metrics.
Three engagements. A prompt engineering workshop run on your team’s live material, an AI adoption retainer aimed at the number of people who use the tools well, and a forward deployed engineer embedded on your floor. Over 100 workshops delivered at more than 50 financial services firms.
Who we work with
ai consulting firm for private equity new york
Financial services, and nothing else.
Private equity, venture, private credit, hedge funds, real assets, secondaries, and the allocators who invest in all of them. The work crossing those desks is reading to a decision, assembling documents from many sources, reconciling one record against another, and holding knowledge nobody wrote down. Those four patterns are where AI earns its place in an investment firm, and they are the whole of what we do.
Most of our clients are in Manhattan, which is where the firm is based and where the New York engineer is placed. The work happens on the client’s floor most weeks, because understanding a process means watching it done rather than hearing it described on a call.
- Private equity and venture
- Deal teams on live transaction documents: CIMs, data rooms, models and the memo. Portfolio operations on the reporting that comes back from the companies.
- Private credit
- Credit agreements, covenant definitions, compliance certificates and the quarterly check that recurs for the life of the loan.
- Hedge funds
- Research reading at volume, and the operations and investor relations desks that sit behind the investment team.
- Allocators, fund administrators and IR
- LP letters, capital account statements, DDQs and the investor inbox. The Riverside Company's investor-email triage went from days to under five minutes.
What we sell
ai workshop for investment professionals nyc
Three engagements, and the smallest one first.
A firm that has bought licences and watched forty people out of two hundred use them has the same problem whichever model it bought. The engagement that fixes it depends on how far along you are, so the three are sized to be bought in order.
- Prompt Engineering Workshop
- Ninety minutes to two hours, in person at your offices in New York or online. Participants bring documents from their own desks and leave having done real work correctly, once, with someone watching. There is no generic curriculum.
- AI Adoption Retainer
- Month to month, aimed at one number: how many people in the firm use these tools well. Prompting practice across the whole employee base, workflow design where AI earns its place, direct work with the teams who stalled, and a plain monthly account of what changed.
- Forward Deployed Engineer
- An engineer embedded in your team and scoped to the engagement. Discovery on the process as it actually runs, a design with AI at its centre, and a build your own people write, so the process is theirs from the first day.
Not sure which? The AI readiness diagnostic takes about seven questions and reads back where the firm sits. It is free and it does not ask for an address first.
Why a firm picks us
best ai companies new york financial services
Referrals, and a method that leaves.
Firms come to us because someone they respect in the industry told them to. That is the entire pipeline, and it holds only while the work holds. Tim Miner, who founded the firm after leadership roles at Salesforce, IBM and Tact.ai, has personally delivered over 100 workshops to investment and operations professionals, and teaches at Columbia University, Rutgers University and Pratt Institute.
The method is in the name. We work with the people performing the work rather than the committee that approved the purchase, we change a small number of things, and we build towards our own absence. An engagement that ends with the client dependent on us has failed on its own terms.
Questions
What a New York firm asks first.
The questions we hear on the first call from partners, COOs and CTOs at Manhattan funds, answered the way we answer them in the room.
Do you work on site in Manhattan?
Yes. The firm is based in New York and the workshop runs in person at your offices or online. A forward deployed engineer is on the client's floor most weeks, because understanding a process means watching it done.
Which AI tools do you work with?
Whichever your firm has licensed. Most of our clients run Claude, ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot, and the workshop is taught on the tool your people open every morning. By The People is part of the Claude Partner Network, Anthropic's programme for the firms that deploy Claude with clients, and the forward deployed engineers who build Claude skills and agents for clients are Claude Certified Architects; the method is the same on any frontier model.
Do our documents leave the building?
No. Participants work on their own documents inside the tools your firm has already approved, under your firm's own data terms with that vendor. We bring no platform of our own and we keep nothing. The privacy page on this site describes the one tool here that stores anything.
How do you measure whether it worked?
In business metrics rather than licence utilisation. The number the retainer is aimed at is how many people use the tools well, which is a different figure from how many have logged in. For a workflow, the measure is the time and the error rate before and after, on the client's own volume.
How does an engagement start?
With a workshop. It is the smallest engagement we sell and it tells you the most about whether the rest is worth buying. Send us what your teams are already attempting and where it keeps stalling. If we are the wrong firm for it, we say so in the reply.
Do you work with firms outside New York?
Yes. The workshop runs online, the retainer is remote by design, and a second engineering seat sits in Tirana, six hours ahead of New York, so a firm's early morning is covered. New York is where most of the work happens and where the firm is based.
Start with a conversation.
Tell us which tools your people have, what you believe they are doing with them, and the one process that costs the most. We will tell you what we would look at first.
